There is a quiet thrill to bidding at auction — the anticipation, the strategy, the moment a sought-after wine becomes yours. LANGTONS auctions offer access to some of the most extraordinary wines in the country, presented through a transparent and considered bidding process.
How bidding works
When you place a bid on a lot, you are making an irrevocable offer to acquire that lot should you be the successful bidder. We encourage bidding with intention.
Understanding the total purchase price
Your total purchase price is the Hammer Price plus the Buyer's Premium.
The Buyer's Premium
Charged at a rate of 18% (inc. GST), of the final Hammer Price.
Reserves
Some lots carry a reserve — the confidential minimum price at which the lot may be sold. If bidding does not reach the reserve, the lot will be passed in.
AutoBid — bidding with intention
AutoBid allows you to set your maximum bid in advance. The system then bids on your behalf, only as required, up to your nominated maximum. It is a discreet way to remain in contention without watching every movement of the auction.
Second chance offers
When a lot is passed in, we may extend a second chance offer to eligible bidders or watchers — an opportunity to acquire the lot at reserve, for a limited period after the auction closes.
If a technical issue arises
If a technical issue affects the fair conduct of an auction, we may extend the auction and notify relevant bidders.
