Few gifts mark a moment quite like fine wine. A vintage that speaks to a birth year. A magnum that turns an anniversary into an occasion. A rare bottle, quietly chosen, that says rather more than the card alongside it. At LANGTONS, gifting is something we approach with the same care as every other part of the fine wine experience.
Ways to gift
Whether you have a specific wine in mind or would welcome a guiding hand, there are several considered paths:
- The Wine Store — a curated selection available to acquire immediately, ideal for gifts with a clear deadline in mind.
- Auctions — for rare, mature or hard-to-find wines, where the gift becomes something of a discovery in itself.
- Client Services — when the wine you are seeking is not currently listed, our specialists will source it on your behalf.
- Private Sales — discreet, exclusive offerings, particularly suited to milestone gifts.
If you are unsure where to begin, your Private Client Manager — or our Customer Experience team — will be glad to guide you.
Choosing the right wine
A well-chosen gift considers the recipient as much as the wine. A few starting points:
- A birth-year vintage — a wine from the year of a birthday, anniversary or significant moment. Availability varies by vintage and region; the earlier the conversation, the better the choice.
- A wine they already love — a different vintage, format or sibling release from a favourite producer.
- A wine of discovery — something a little outside their usual reach, offered with a few words on why it might delight.
- A larger format — magnums and beyond carry a sense of occasion, and often age beautifully.
Our specialists are happy to suggest options across budgets and styles.
Sending the gift
Gifts may be delivered directly to the recipient at an Australian address, subject to age verification and our Responsible Service of Alcohol obligations.
- Adult signature required — by default, deliveries require a signature and proof of identity. The recipient must be 18 or older.
- Delivery instructions — where available, you may add a note for the driver at checkout.
- Warm weather care — if you are gifting in the warmer months, you may choose to have the order held in our care if heat is forecast in the delivery area. See Caring for your wines through the warmer months.
If you would prefer to send a personal note alongside the wine, please speak with our Customer Experience team and we will assist.
A note on timing
Fine wine should never be a last-minute decision. For sourced wines, En Primeur allocations or particularly rare bottles, please allow as much time as possible. A brief conversation early on is the surest way to a considered outcome.
Gifting with privacy in mind
We understand that gifts are personal. The recipient will not receive marketing communications as a result of your order, and where you would prefer the gift to arrive without a price-bearing invoice, please let us know at the time of purchase.
Worth knowing All gifts are subject to age verification on delivery. The recipient must be 18 or older and able to present valid ID.
To the finer moments
Some gifts are remembered for an evening. The right bottle, well chosen, may be remembered for far longer.
