PayPal is among the payment methods available at LANGTONS, for Wine Store and Private Sales purchases, and for auction purchases above $10,000. It is a convenient way to settle — and, on the rare occasion something doesn't go to plan, it is also a service with its own dedicated support.
Where we can help, and where PayPal is better placed
PayPal operates as an independent payment provider. When you choose to pay through PayPal, the transaction is processed within PayPal's own systems, under your agreement with them. We see the outcome of that transaction — approved or declined — but not what sits behind it.
This means there are some matters we are simply not able to assist with, however glad we would be to.
Matters for PayPal:
- A declined or failed PayPal transaction, where the reason is not apparent
- Your PayPal account balance, linked cards or funding sources
- PayPal account access, login difficulties or verification
- PayPal transaction limits or holds placed on your account
- Currency conversion rates or fees applied by PayPal
- Disputes raised through PayPal's own resolution process
- Refund timing once PayPal has received the funds from us
Matters for LANGTONS:
- Whether your order or auction purchase has been settled with us
- Locating your tax invoice
- Nominating a different payment method
- Confirming that a refund has been processed from our side
- Any question about the wines themselves, delivery, or your account
How to reach PayPal
PayPal offers support through:
- The Resolution Centre, within your PayPal account — the most direct path for a transaction concern
- The Help Centre at paypal.com/au/smarthelp
- Message or call through the contact options in your PayPal account
Because PayPal will need to verify your identity, they will generally ask you to make contact from within your own account rather than through a third party.
If a PayPal payment has not gone through
Should a PayPal payment decline, the first step is simply to try an alternative method — your nominated credit card, bank transfer or BPAY, depending on the channel. This is almost always the quickest path forward, particularly where an auction settlement deadline is approaching.
Auction purchases are to be settled within 30 calendar days of the auction close. If a PayPal difficulty is likely to delay you beyond that, please speak with us before the deadline rather than after. A brief conversation almost always opens a way through. See If a purchase remains unsettled.
Refunds paid through PayPal
Where a refund is due on a purchase settled by PayPal, we return the funds to PayPal, who then apply them to your account or original funding source.
From our side, a refund is generally processed within two to five business days of being confirmed. Once it reaches PayPal, it typically appears within one to two business days — though the timing from that point rests with PayPal and, where a card was the funding source, with your card issuer.
If a refund has been confirmed by us and has not appeared after that window, please check your PayPal account first. If the funds have reached PayPal but not yet your card or bank, PayPal is best placed to trace them.
For more, see Refund timeframes.
A note on security
LANGTONS will never ask for your PayPal login details, and nor will PayPal ask for them by email or SMS. If you receive a message that appears to come from either of us and asks for account credentials, please treat it with caution and report it to hoax@edg.com.au.
For more, see Protecting your account with multi-factor authentication.
Worth knowing
We would always rather find a way forward than leave a matter unresolved. Where a PayPal difficulty sits outside what we can reach, our Customer Experience team is still glad to talk it through, confirm what we can see from our side, and help you settle by another method if that is the simpler path.
